God’s protection is often taken for granted by many of us.
There is a fixed ritual or habit for some of us in the morning; the moment we wake up or soon after, we say a quick prayer. Often a prayer of thanksgiving followed by a request for protection for ourselves and our loved ones. We then begin our routine for the day more confident that God’s got our back and the day would go smoothly.
Somehow not long after, there could be some mishap causing delays and momentary distractions. When minor mishaps delay or distract us, it is almost impossible to take a deep breath and simply thank God for it.
Undeniable Protection
About a week ago, I offered to help a friend with house hunting. She had arrived at our designated meeting spot half an hour earlier. Upon reading her text message, I grabbed my handbag and found myself somewhat rushing out the front door of my house. Perhaps it was because she was elderly and making her wait for me would be unkind. It wasn’t far from where I live so I was there in 2 minutes.
Knowing she had difficulty walking, I slowly tried to back my car to a spot more convenient for her to get into my car. It was just a few meters away so I backed very slowly having a fair bit of my focus on my friend. Then, in a split second, I hit my brakes and found myself glancing at my left-view mirror.
A lady was just about to cross the road and her focus was on her little child. She was unaware that I was about to back my car right into them! I waited for them to cross and backed up a little more to where my friend was standing. I immediately realised that I was pretty close to a major accident. No doubt about it…God protected them and me.
Yesterday, my brother was in an accident involving a motorcyclist. Both vehicles are currently at the workshop for fairly major repairs. Both men are unhurt. It is easy to ignore the fact that things could have been much worst and blame God for the ‘bad luck’ of meeting with the accident in the first place.
However, as we reflect on the entire incident, it is so very evident that God’s protection was with them both.
Praise God for His loving protection every moment of the day!
